Three Gorges Project

Three Gorges Projectis a key project for the development and management of the Yangtze River basin. It has the largest installed capacity in the world with a total installed capacity of 22.5GW.Ecological and environmental protection has been given full consideration, especially the protection of rare and endemic fish species in the Yangtze River.

The Danjiangkou Dam was built in 1967.As the water source project for the middle route of the South to North Water Diver-sion Project, the Danjiangkou Dam was designed to be raised by 14.6m. The dam height is 117m and crest length, 3442m, resulting in a corresponding increase in storage capacity of 11.6 billion m³. This is the largest dam raise project in China, which was started in Sept.2005 and completed in Sept. 2013.

Baihetan Project

Baihetan Hydropower Station, with a 289-meter-high arch dam, is the second cascade of the four cascades station in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River.The total installed capacity is 16,000MW, with 1,000MW ca pacity of each unit. It has an average annual power generation of 62.443TWh and guarantees an output of 5,470MW.It is the second megascale hydropowersta-tion exceeding 10,000 MW designed and constructed in China. The project was put into fulloperation in Dec. 2022.

Yangjiang Pumped Storage Power Station

The Yangjiang Pumped Storage Power Sta-tion is located in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. The Upper reservoir is RCC gravity dam with maximum height of 101m.The Lower reservoir is asphalt concrete core wall rockfill dam with maximum height of 55.1m. The high water pressure tunnels is a reinforced concrete lining type with maximum static water head of 799m. It has the first 800m water head reinforced concrete lined pressure pipeline, saving nearly 30% of the cost. At the same time, the power station is equipped with an advanced reversible pump turbine unit, the cost of about 200 million yuan.

Shuangjiangkou Dam

The shuangjiangkou hydropower station is located on the main stream of Dadu River with the control reservoir of 2.9km³. The project is mainly aimed at power generation and flood control, with an installed capacity of 2000MW, annual average power genera-tion of 7.7TWh, and regulated storage capacity of 1.9km³. The dam is a clay core rockfill dam, with a height of 315m. It is the highest dam under construction in China, with a damfilling volume of 44 million m³.

Jinping l Dam

Standing as a 305-meter-high double curvature concrete arch dam, Jinping I Dam is the highest dam in the world recognized by Guinness World Record.Jinpingl Hydropower Station resides on the Yalong River and tops all other cascade hydropower stations in the lower reach of Yalong River. It has a total installed capacity of 3,600MW and a multiyear average annual power generation of 16.62TWh. Since it was put into operation, it has significantly improved the ratio of clean energy in local energy structure, assisted in the poverty alleviation of the west part of China, and helped the flood control of the Yangtze River.
